Memory Lane: Card Show

                                                                 Baseball Card Show

                                                                     Memory Lane

I was 11, or 12 years old and baseball cards were a big deal.  Many of the local malls would have baseball card shows during the weekends, and the hallways of the malls would be filled with vendors selling baseball cards, and sports memorabilia.  My Mom took me to one particular show at Wonderland Mall, and we waited in line for almost 3 hours to get Alan Trammell's autograph.  The line for Paul Gibson's autograph was about 45 minutes, and we waited in that line too.  Denny McLain was also at a table signing autographs, and the line for his signature was between 1, and 2 hours.  We did not wait in line for McLain's autograph.

-  Allan Trammell played 19 seasons with the Detroit Tigers.

-  I was a huge Allan Trammell fan.

-  The Detroit Tigers traded Paul Gibson in 1992.

-  I had no idea who Denny McLain was when I attended the card show at Wonderland Mall.  I thought from a distance that it was Roger Ebert (movie critic).
